S:T ERIKS LERVARUFABRIKER
AND
UPSALA EKEBY Those were the names of two important ceramics factories in Uppsala.
S:t Eriks lasted until 1937 when it was bought by Upsala Ekeby who closed it down. S:t Erik was founded at the turn of the century and grew important in the last decade of its existance. Among the many interesting artists you find there are: Anna-Lisa Thomson, Edvin Ollers, Greta Runeborg and Gertrud Lönegren. Art in Uppsala has started a project to cover most of the artistic production of S:t Eriks lervarufabriker. Not much has been written about that subject before. More than 800 objects can be seen, over 200 in colour. Go there!

Upsala Ekeby (yes, Upsala with one p, spelt the old way) was also founded at the turn of the century. The production of artistic ceramics grew important about 1920 and remained so until the end about 1973 when it was bought and closed down. Among the important artists working at Upsala Ekeby you find: Anna-Lisa Thomson, Ingrid Atterberg, Mari Simmulson and Vicke Lindstrand.

S:t Eriks lervarufabriker grundades vid sekelskiftet och fanns kvar till 1937 då Upsala Ekeby köpte företaget och lade ned det.
Under senare delen av 20-talet och 30-talet blev produktionen av prydnadskeramik betydande. Bland de medverkande konstnärerna hittar vi Anna-Lisa Thomson, Edvin Ollers, Greta Runeborg och Gertrud Lönegren. Art in Uppsala har startat ett projekt kring S:t Eriks. Avsikten är att så småningom spegla det mesta av den konstnärliga produktionen. Inte mycket har tidigare skrivits om S:t Eriks. Över 800 föremål finns beskrivna i text och bild. Över 200 färgbilder.

Upsala Ekeby grundades också vid sekelskiftet. Produktionen av konstnärlig keramik blev betydande kring 1920 och förblev så till ungefär 1973 då fabriken köptes upp och lades ned.
